World Cup Qualifiers Europe

Wednesday saw just 7 games take place but their was vital wins. 

Group 1: Sweden made home advantage count as they easily defeated Malta 4-0. Kim Källström, Daniel Majstorovic, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Berg all on the scoresheet. 

Group 4: Finland suffered a morale damaging defeat at home to Russia. The Russians left Helsinki with a 3-0 win thanks to a double from Alexandr Kerzhakov and one from Konstantin Ziryanov. Russia are just a point behind group leaders Germany. 

Group 6: England strolled in Wembley as they moved closer to the World Cup Finals. A 6-0 rout of Andorra meant England go into the summer 10 points clear of Croatia. A double from Wayne Rooney and Jermaine Defoe plus one from Frank Lampard and Peter Crouch did the damage. 

Ukraine laboured to a 2-1 win over Kazakhstan. Tanat Nuserbayev gave the visitors the lead before Sergey Nazarenko's double helped Ukraine to the win. Ukraine move level with Croatia in 2nd. 

Group 7: Group leaders Serbia extended their lead at the top to 8 points from France, who have 2 games in hand. Milan Jovanović and Nevan Subotić got the goals in a 2-0 win over Faroe Islands in Tórshavn. 

Group 9: Macedonia recored a 2-0 win at home to Iceland that keeps them in the hunt for the play-off place. Goals from Aco Stojkov and Filip Ivanovski secured the win. 

Holland celebrated their qualification, which was secured on Saturday by beating Norway at home. Andre Ooijer and Arjen Robben with the goals in a 2-0 win.
